Welcome to the Chair of Sustainability Assessment of Food & Agricultural Systems (SAFAS)!
The SAFAS group is dedicated to researching the environmental impacts of global supply chains, with a primary focus on climate and biodiversity impacts of food and agricultural products. Our work spans global and national scales, developing robust methodologies that integrates multi-regional input-output analysis, life cycle impact assessment, earth observation data, and integrated assessment models.
By leveraging these diverse tools, we construct high-resolution models of global supply chains, offering a comprehensive environmental assessment and facilitating scenario modeling. Our research provides novel insights into the critical hotspots and levers within global supply chains, scrutinizes changes in production and consumption behaviors, and sheds light on sustainable practices.
This information is crucial for informing decision-making across society, industry, and policy, enabling them to navigate within the planetary boundaries and contributing to a more sustainable future.
