Tongji University

Listed among the 36 A-class universities in the government's Double First Class University Plan, Tongji University is one of the leading universities in China. It has a strong international reputation and is ranked 35th in the list of the best universites in Asia according to the 2019 Global University Ranking. The university was founded in 1907 by the German government together with German physicians. It offers a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral programs in 10 academic disciplines such as engineering, medicine, or economics. The School of Economics and Management is well known for research in environmental sciences. Prof. Chao Zhang, our main collaboration partner, received his doctoral degree from Harvard University. He is renowned for his research of socio-economic aspects related to energy technologies, where he focuses on renewable energies.
