South America

Supported by the Bavarian Academic Center for Latin America (BAYLAT), the Chair of Production and Resource Economics (PuR) is currently building a strong network with universities and research institutions in Colombia and Ecuador. Due to their rich cultural and natural environment, these two countries in Latin America offer a great opportunity to explore solutions to the major environmental and economic challenges of agriculture. In this regard, the PuR Chair is collaborating with Colombian and Ecuadorian partners to develop research to support the sustainable development of agriculture. During multiple visits in 2019, 2023 and 2024, the chair has established a network that will serve as a starting point for further cooperation in research, teaching and exchanges. The expanding network includes cooperation with Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira (UTP – Pereira), Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá), Humboldt Institute (Bogotá), Universidad EAFIT (Medellin), Universidad EIA (Medellin), The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT – Palmira), Escuela Politecnica Nacional (EPN – Quito), Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ – Quito).
