Organized by the Chair of Production and Resource Economics (PuR) and the Hans Eisenmann Forum (HEF) for Agricultural Sciences at TUM, the first Weihenstephan Forum on the Future of Agricultural Policy took place last Tuesday. The kick-off event was attended by a large number of participants, including Bavaria's Minister of Agriculture, Michaela Kaniber. Together with researchers and representatives of agricultural and environmental associations, she discussed the topic of "Agriculture in the year 2050". During a panel discussion, the invited guests also answered questions from the audience, which ranged from the future of conventional and organic agriculture, animal husbandry, meat renunciation and genetic engineering. After the event, the discussion continued into the evening over "beer & pretzels".
