Institutions of the Leibniz Association are evaluated on a regular basis by external experts in order to verify the achievement of objectives and to guarantee quality assurance. In addition, the evaluation process should identify strengths and weaknesses of the respective institution. The Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) in Großbeeren, which is developing the scientific basis for an ecologically sound and effective production of horticultural crops, is being evaluated this year. Being an expert in agricultural, environmental and resource economics, Professor Sauer was appointed as one of the evaluation commission members.
