Professor Heißenhuber discusses challenges for German agriculture at an expert meeting of the Federal Environment Agency in Berlin

Agriculture in Germany as in other parts of the world faces tremendous challenges. Farmers are required to provide affordable food for a growing population without compromising other ecosystem services. In 2010 and against this background, the German Federal Environment Agency founded an expert group, the so called "Kommission Landwirtschaft und Umwelt (KLU)" dealing especially with the environmental impacts of agriculture. On November 22, the KLU helds a symposium with external experts in Berlin where the latest developments in agriculture are discussed. Being the chairman of the KLU, Professor Heißenhuber will play a leading role in the event.
