Since March 1, 2020, the Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics (PuR) has been working in a new research project on the complex relationships between food production, water use and ecosystems in the Mediterranean area. The project, funded by the PRIMA network (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) and entitled "SIGMA Nexus", shall demonstrate sustainable development paths for different forms of land use against the background of progressive climate change, taking into account the water-ecosystem-food nexus. The project consortium, which in addition to the PuR chair group as the coordinating body consists of the Cairo University, the University of Crete and the Organization for the Development of Crete, began its work on Monday, March 9, when PuR representative welcomed eleven researchers from the partner institutions to the project's kick-off meeting in Weihenstephan.
