In order to strengthen existing contacts and to set up new cooperations with Georgian scientists and experts in the field of agriculture and environment, Professor Sauer and Philipp Mennig spent one week in the Georgian capital Tbilisi (5-12/8). After welcoming the Georgian researcher Dr. Tengiz Taktakishvili at the Chair Group of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics in summer 2017 for several months, it was now Professor Sauer's turn to go for a visit in the Caucasus republic. At the university of Dr. Taktakishvili, the Georgian National University, the two guests from TUM gave a three day short course entitled "Climate Change and its Impacts on the Economies of Developing Countries" for Georgian students. The travel schedule further included meetings with researchers from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the International Black Sea University and the Georgian National University as well as a roundtable with representatives of the agricultural sector, politics and research where the current situation of Georgian agriculture was discussed. The trip ended with an excursion to a bio-dynamic winery in the Kakheti region.
In the course of the week, the scene was set for a joint research projects with different Georgian researchers and stakeholders, which shall form the basis for a long-term partnership.

Our special thanks goes to Dr. Taktakishvili who helped making this trip a successful one. Madloba!
