Research results implemented in new sustainability standard of the German Agricultural Society

How can the sustainability profile of a farm be measured in its entirety or in parts and converted into a system that is easy for the farmer to use? Veronika Hannus investigates this question as part of her research. Through a comprehensive survey of farmers, Ms. Hannus, in collaboration with the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.), gained valuable insights into the expectations and preferences of farmers regarding the design of sustainability management systems. Just as the AGRITECHNICA, the world's leading trade fair for agricultural machinery, starts in Hanover, DLG is presenting its thoroughly revised sustainability standard, which explicitly takes into account the research findings of Ms. Hannus.
The new standard offers farmers a three-stage certification concept: from the farm check via the certificate of participation to the full certificate. Standard use is supported by the DLGCert software solution for easier documentation and identification of key figures for sustainability assessment.
