Michael Mühlegger
Academic career
Before transitioning to Economics, Michael studied Geoinformatics and Satellite Positioning (Hochschule München), during which he completed a practical semester in Christchurch, New Zealand. After working as a surveyor in structural engineering for several years, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Economics, and a master's degree in Quantitative Economics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) with a focus on Behavioral Economics, Econometrics, and Numerical Methods. In his master thesis, Michael investigated employment responses to unemployment benefits by deriving an adjusted job-search model and calibrating it to US data. He also worked as a research assistant at the Max-Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, and the Seminar for Economic Theory, as well as the Chair for Behavioral and Experimental Economics at LMU.
